NBA salaries: LeBron James just sixth-highest earner with new season set to get underway
NBA players are some of the richest sport stars in the world, with the league's top earner taking home a staggering $40.2million a year.
There is plenty of excitement building around the league for the new NBA season after a bundle of changes among the top teams which have completely reshaped the landscape.
The Los Angeles Lakers missed out on the playoffs with LeBron James playing his first season in the Staples Centre, but they're now favourites after acquiring Anthony Davis via trade from the New Orleans Pelicans.
And it could be a face off in Los Angeles in the Western Conference with the LA Clippers also favoured to be up there after their offseason moves.
Doc Rivers' side impressed with no stand-out superstar last season but, having added Paul George and reigning NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, they're expected to make that extra leap.
Staying in the West and the Houston Rockets have moved on from Chris Paul after pulling off one of the most surprising trades by acquiring Russell Westbrook to partner James Harden for the new campaign.
The Golden State Warriors are now considered outsiders after losing Kevin Durant in free agency, although they have brought in D'Angelo Russell to team with Steph Curry and Draymond Green while the injured Klay Thompson is expected to return halfway through the season.
Out in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks have the league's reigning MVP in Giannis Antetokounmpo surrounded by most of the same core group that reached the NBA Finals last year while they will likely face a close battle with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Reigning champions Toronto Raptors are long odds to retain their title having lost Leonard in free agency while the Boston Celtics are starting again with Kemba Walker coming in to replace Kyrie Irving.
Although the Warriors aren't considered favourites for the championship, Curry takes home the title for the third consecutive season as the highest paid NBA player with a salary of $40.2m for the year.
Despite playing at a time when NBA salaries are increasing every year, James seems to have been left behind as he has fallen to sixth on the list.
